Director of Art and Music

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate K-12 visual art and music curricula that align with state and national standards. 
  • Monitor and support the instruction of art and music teachers across the district, ensuring high-quality, equitable programs in all schools. 
  • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for art and music staff, including workshops, conferences, and peer collaboration. 
  • Prepare and manage budgets for art and music programs, including purchasing supplies, instruments, and instructional materials in collaboration with the Asst. Superintendent for Business.
  • Organize and oversee student performances, art shows, concerts, and district-wide festivals, ensuring community engagement and student recognition. 
  • Track and inventory of all instruments and repairs.
  • Participate in the recruitment, hiring, mentoring, and performance evaluation of art and music educators. 
  • Collaborate with staff to select appropriate resources, integrate arts into interdisciplinary learning, and support differentiated instruction. 
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local arts organizations, eiMAPS, cultural institutions, and professional associations to enhance learning opportunities. 
  • Oversee Arts in Education in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instructions.
  • Oversee all aspects of Auditorium rentals.
